If you’ve been doom-scrolling on your Android 16 device without updating, it’s time to sit up straight. Google’s August 2025 security update finally fixed a seriously nasty bug—the one that let hackers sneak into your phone without you even lifting a finger. That's right: no clicking, tapping, or app installations required—attackers could run harmful code on your device remotely. That’s the real danger flagged in CVE-2025-48530.

Pixel users, both old and new—from Pixel 6 to Pixel 9, plus Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet—are in the clear, as long as you’ve installed the August update (build BP2A.250805.005).

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Go to Settings → System → Software update → Check for updates and get it if it’s waiting for you.

  • Make sure your security patch reads 2025-08-05 or newer—that's the safest spot.

Once updated, you’re protected from this zero-interaction exploit. Bonus perks in the update include smoother navigation, better dark-mode scheduling, and general performance fixes. All good things.

Keep your phone updated—and don’t let 'no-click' be a hacker’s party trick.
